Fee Jardine Guest Creative Team Challenge

This is a layout I did for a challenge.  Fee Jardine has a challenge on her blog each month for a chance to be a guess member of her creative team.  Being a part of a CT means that you get to create layouts for the dedigner in order to highlight their new kits.  I have never done this but would love to try.  You might have remembered that I made a layout last month but didn't submit it.  But I am not going to make the same mistake again.

Not sure why but when I resized it I had some trouble getting good quality.  Still trying to make sense of it in Paint Shop Pro.  If you click on the layout it will take you to a larger version which is not very crisp.

Well here it is.

Something of Yourself

The challenge was to create a layout and incorporate a quote from Mr. Rogers to commemorate his birthday which is this month.  The quote I used reminded me of the full potential young children have to change the world.

"If you could only sense how important you are to the lives of those you meet; how important you can be to the people you may never even dream of. There is something of yourself that you leave at every meeting with another person."

And since I love to scrap my kids baby pictures I went back and got one of my two sons.  Oh the potential!
I used Fee Kardine's What's Happening Kit.  Fee is a designer over at The Sweet Shoppe. Seems I am given alot of sugar to the Sweet Shoppe this week.  LOL

Wish me luck on this one!

Digital Scrapbooking Challenges

What Gets Me Up in the Morning

I completed this layout for a challenge at Sugar Hill's Digital Scrapbook Community.  Its called the Sweet Nothings Challenge because you have to create a layout without photos.  This month's challenge was to create a layout that answered the question, "What gets you up in the morning?".

This layout was inspired by Lynette Penacho who was the Treat of the Month this month over at the Sweet Shop.  The Sweet Shop is another great online community for digital scrapbookers.  Lynette uses a lot of blocking in her layouts. They are fabulous and really inspired me to try a new style.  You can see some of her layouts on her "get to know you" page.  Just scroll down.

I made this layout with a number of kits at Sugar Hill.  Miss Tiina and Victoria Feemster respectfully. Here are some previews of the kits.

I had a lot of fun doing this layout.  I have never scrapped a page without photos. And usually I am scrapping about the kids or an event, not myself. So it really was fun!  Scrap challenges are a great way to shake up the lay outs you are creating. They can give you new ideas, color schemes, and techniques just to name a few ideas that might challenge you to expand your layouts.

Another reason I enjoy challenges is that a lot of the scrap communities give you the opportunity to earn free kits and other digi scrap elements by completing their challenges..  For instance, DigiDesign Resort asks you to complete 6 challenges in the month, making you eligible for their huge collaboration kit that is revealed at the beginning of each month. Sugar Hill, on the other hand, gives you points towards each challenges you do. When you earn so many points you get a gift certificate to their store.

If you are new to digi scrapping, doing challenges can help you enter into these communities, where there are some wonderful people hanging out. Not a bad way to spend your time while scrapping.
